Comment to the preceding quote: This type of statement is the height of ecclesiastical tyranny!  It also shows a complete contempt for the Holy Bible, which nowhere tells us that a requirement for our salvation is to be "subject to the Roman Pontiff".   The Lord Jesus Christ alone is the head of the "body of Christ" – the Christian Church, and not some fallible human pretender to the throne!))

POPE CLEMENT XIV (pope: 1769-1774)
 
   "...That the name of the company [i.e., the Society of Jesus – the Jesuits] shall be, and is forever extinguished and suppressed... [This Papal Decree of Suppression shall] forever and to all eternity be valid, permanent, and efficacious." (From his Papal Decree of 'Suppression' banning the Jesuits in 1773) ((A number of authors claim that this decree was a Papal Bull – and the Catholic Church claims it was a 'Brief" – no matter which it was, a Catholic pope officially banned this Catholic Order for all eternity!))
 
((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote:  The suppression and the subsequent abolition of the Jesuits did not last "to all eternity".  Less than 50 years later, the Jesuits were "reinstated" (some believe, by force).  Pope Clement XIV had done a four-year investigation into the workings of the Jesuits.  He listed eleven other popes who had tried to curb the excesses of this society.  Fourteen months after issuing his Papal Decree suppressing the Jesuits, Pope Clement XIV was assassinated by them.))
 
   "We have remarked to our deep regret that our admonitions to them [i.e., the Jesuits] to serve God and not to mix themselves up with other matters, especially secular and political, as well as many other measures, have been almost powerless and of no effect.  ...Our predecessors had to undergo much vexation on that account.  Pope Innocent XI, driven by necessity, went so far as to forbid the society [of Jesus – i.e., the Jesuit Order] to receive and invest novices.  ...Further, [Pope] Innocent XIII was compelled to threaten them [i.e., the Jesuits] with the same punishment, and [Pope] Benedict XIV closed the visitation of the inspection of the houses and colleges in the dominion of...the most faithful King of Portugal..."

POPE GREGORY XIII (1502-1585; pope: 1572-1585)
 
   "Since that guilty woman of England [Ed. Note: i.e., Queen Elizabeth I] rules over two such noble Kingdoms of Christendom, and is the cause of so much injury to the Catholic Faith [Ed. Translation: is causing loss of income to the Catholic hierarchy], and loss of so many million souls, there is no doubt that whosoever sends her out the world with the pious intention of doing God service, not only does not sin but gains merit, especially having regard to the sentence pronounced against her by [Pope] Pius V of holy memory.  And so, if those English nobles decide actually to undertake so glorious a work [Ed. Translation: murdering the queen of England], your Lordship can assure them that they do not commit any sin." (December 12, 1580)

Almighty GOD, and He alone, determines what sin is, and is not.  His Holy Word spells out for us exactly what sin is.  For this mere mortal, sinful man (even though he takes upon himself the title of the Vicar of Christ) to even suggest that murdering this woman would not be a sin is not only sick, but it also shows a terrible ignorance of God's Holy Bible.
 
2. Pope Gregory XIII, with the above words, is not only advocating and sanctioning the attempted assassination of Queen Elizabeth I of England, but also encouraging such an action by passing along an assurance that those performing "so glorious a work...do not commit any sin".))

POPE JOHN VIII
 
   "We confidently reply that those who shall die in battle fighting bravely against pagans or unbelievers shall receive eternal life."

(1) Almighty GOD alone decides who will and will not receive "eternal life".  No pope or other man can promise men "eternal life" for deeds done on behalf of a religious institution!
 
(2) These false promises of "eternal life", forgiveness of sins, etc., were used by popes to get the most vile criminals (to include murderers, rapists, etc.) to "sign up" for crusades to slaughter and butcher innocent Moslems and Jews (men, women, and children) with a savagery often exceeding that of the most barbaric pagans!  Popes also launched crusades against non-Catholic Christians, such as the Albigenses in South France – again, slaughtering and butchering innocent men, women, and children with the blessings of a number of popes!
 
(3) The "formula" for "eternal life" as spelled out in the Holy Bible is this:
•        Truly repenting of one's sins.
•        Truly submitting oneself under the lordship of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
•        Daily "denying self", "taking up one's cross", and producing godly "fruit" through righteous living.
•        Obeying God's commands as found in the Holy Bible.

(4) Speaking of "the Kingdom of Heaven":  If you have not seen Ridley Scott's film "Kingdom of Heaven" (2005) that deals with that time in history when Christian crusaders held Jerusalem, I most highly recommend that you view it.  This movie clearly shows the "ugly side" of organized religion – and its role in inciting "holy war".))

Comment to the preceding quote: Pope Pius V was in effect inciting Roman Catholics in England to rebellion.  The Papacy had long been upset with the loss of its ecclesiastical monopoly in England – and with the loss of some revenue to its coffers – that resulted when King Henry VIII pulled England out from under papal domination.  There were at least three assassination attempts on the life of Queen Elizabeth I of England – due in large part to such papal declarations, and to Jesuit court intrigues in England!))

Comment to the preceding quote:  In The Secret History of the Jesuits, Edmond Paris points out that, contrary to Catholic Church propaganda, Pope Pius X actually helped instigate hostilities between Austria-Hungary and Serbia.  Clearly both the Hapsburg dynasty (rulers of Austria-Hungary) and the Vatican saw the growing power of Serbia as a threat.  In fact, in late 1913 Prince Schonburg had an audience with Pope Pius X, who told Schonburg the words contained in the preceding quote.  In other words, the Roman Catholic pope was letting this Roman Catholic European power (Austria-Hungary) know that it was past time to "take care of" the Serbian problem!))
